Members of Shropshire Rifles, Shropshire Scouts Target Sport Unit, have rounded off another highly successful shooting season, celebrating achievements at local, national and international competitions.
The Unit’s members recently completed their Youth Proficiency Scheme (YPS) awards, with two achieving the Expert badge and four earning the scheme’s highest award, Mastershot.
The season has produced an impressive collection of medals and trophies from events including the Bisley Scoutshoot, British Shooting Schools Championships, British Open Airgun Championships, Scout Inter-County Airgun Competition, British Junior International, Waterloo and Camelot competitions.
Among the highlights were two gold medals won by Abbi at the British Open Airgun Championships, where she claimed victory in both the 10m Sporter Air Rifle and 10m Sporter Air Rifle Aggregate events.
Most recently, Shropshire Scouts enjoyed outstanding success in the NSRA Sport Crossbow Competition, winning four of the five divisions. In those four divisions, Shropshire competitors secured all three podium places, while also finishing second and third in the remaining division.
The Unit now looks ahead to September’s Bisley Scoutshoot, where they will be defending several of the trophies earned during another exceptional year for Shropshire Scouts target shooting.
